She's playing. Mine does that as well...mine has a bundle of energy at 3 1/2 and she always "bounds" and "leaps" places, or sleeps! :)

My 12 year old male cat I live in a small 1 bedroom apt does the same thing but not running up the stairs I live on the 2nd floor but can't let him outside and my neighbors have pit bulls and I won't allow my cat the chance to get hurt. Not only that but the apt manager will call the Animal Control to pick up strays. But it's normal behavior and my cat does it mainly in the early morning and later on in the evening.

No cats just do that kinda of thing. They can run all over the house really fast. They are getting rid of energy. Our domestic cats have something in common with the wild ones. They save their energy for attacking prey. They need to get rid of their energy. And then they sleep, that is why they sleep alot, they store up energy for the kill.

Yea, my cat does that too. She'll run up the stairs real fast, then run all around up there. She's getting exercise and is happy.

My cat, Jeffrey, will do the same in the evenings, just out of the blue for no reason. I just laugh at him. Last night he knocked over a candle, not lit, while he was on his run. I do think they are getting exercise and I also think they are playing. Right on both counts.

A friend of mine fell down the stairs and cracked his skull open when he was a kid. Now he only sweats on one side of his body. When he's in the sun he gets a tan on one side and a burn on the other side. It's like a perfect line dividing his face.

LOL she may be playing. Whenever I visit my parents house, my dog does the same thing on their stairs, he loves their stairs for some reason, and loves running up and down them all the time, which is really strange because he has bad arthritis in his back legs, but he still runs up and down them anyway. =) Just let her have her fun. =)

yeah i work at a cattery and some cats seem to have imaginary Friends. also maybe she got a fright on the stairs once and now runs up to avoid what she was afraid of.

It's partly energy and a lot more asserting her alpha role in the house.
You've noticed and I'll bet on more than one occasion you've said something to her or someone else when she can hear.
Pets which develop exaggerated and repeated patterns of behavior are telling you they are in control, not you.

Honey your cat is just amusing itself. they all do that. when mine does that I say who put a quarter in you. she just love to dash around. the older they get if they are fixed they will not be as active. If you watch their diet they can maintain the playfulness. don't have to worry it is just having fun. Be happy your cat is healthy and playful. They can be very amusing.Have fun with your baby. God bless you. Animals are good medicine. They can lower your blood pressure and make you healthier. Smile be Happy!

Yep. Some cats are very good at entertaining themselves! Mine especially is. They are most playful in the late hours of the day. She is just playing, not to worry!
