I really don't think so.
Down's Syndrome people are the happiest, most loving people I have ever met. We should all be so "cursed".

Down's Syndrome is a human genetic disorder. End of story.
Every human being on this earth has sin in themselves, if we were all being punished for sin.....we would not be made into some of the sweetest, most loving and caring individuals on this earth.
I am proud to say that I work with special needs clients, many who live with Down's Syndrome.
You need some serious help with your thinking. Good luck.

I hope you never have anything happen to you that others could say is punishment from God for some sin of a parent or another ancestor.

My son has Down syndrome and I certainly don't feel punished, I feel blessed. My son was made in God's image, just as anyone else. He is bright, loving and amazing. He has taught me more about love and courage than anyone I have ever known.
There is no shame in having Down syndrome...the shame is in people who cannot accept others who were born a little bit different.
I know God loves my son and has a plan for him. He is not punished or cursed, he is quite simply, a miracle.

Down's Syndrome is a genetic disorder not a punishment from God.
No illness is a punishment from God ! The God of my understanding, my "Higher Power" , is not a punishing God.
Man does such a good job of 'punishing' himself, that I don,t think God needs or wants to assist him.

Why would a person get punished for something an ancestor did? I would think that if god were omnipotent he could at least punish the person who actually sinned.

Punishment?...no it is not, but rather it is a blessing that God has given me. My son has become my teacher, through him I am learning patience, understanding and an acceptance of others. He accepts all whom he meets with an open heart, and doesn't judge others, nor does he harbor hate in his heart.
Wouldn't our world be a better place if all people were like that?

It's not due to sin. Check out John 9:1
1As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
3"Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life. 4As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

Well, God killed Davids son for his sin, he didn't give him Downs syndrome.
Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the Lord." Nathan answered David: "The Lord on his part has forgiven your sin: you shall not die. But since you have utterly spurned the Lord by this deed, the child born to you must surely die." (The child dies seven days later.) 2 Samuel 12:11-14 NAB

That is one of the things I have always disliked about Christianity. You take something that has a proven scientific explanation and twist it to fit that outdated bible. To say that about people who cannot help the medical condition they were given by their genetic code is an insult to society.
