Yes its normal depending on the breed. My mom's cat is a Bombay and he is very talkative. He will meow, but he also squeaks and has a certain noise he makes when he enters a room. Its like he is saying hello in his own way.

Also he will chirp like a bird when he is outside around the birds. It was freaky at first but I read about it and found that some cats do this but its rare.

Dont worry. Your cat wont start having conversations in proper English. lol

Is your cat a Siamese, Siamese mix or a mix like a Tonkinese? Those breeds of cats have a tendency to have loud screechy meows or "talk". I have a a Tonkinese and I swear he thinks he's talking. If we ask him a question he does a choppy meow type response that's really cute. Your cat is not only normal, but smart because it is showing adaptive behavior.

Honestly cats can not, do not and will never talk. Cats are not animals that will mock or imitate humans like birds are, so honestly hunny that is probably just what her meow sounds like-- i have heard many cats with many different and some strange meows.

My cat meow's but also walk's around the house and says mama, mom, and helwo..(seems he is unable to say hello correctly) he loves to do this if i go to the basement and also when i go to bed...he will contine to say helwooo and mama until i yell out.. I'm in here.. and then he comes where ever i am.
I have two other cat's but they dont talk at all but they do chirp a lot instead of meowing...it's pretty cute with the exception of the 3am helwoooo..... mama.... HELWOOOOOO..............MAMA....................... MOM? Oh Dear God I'm in here!!!!

It's fine to talk to your cat. She will understand you and you might be able to understand her. I saw a video on YouTube of a Bengal, and it sounded like she was talking. The tough part is going to be to convince other people around you that your cat does understand. For example, my husband will stare at my kitty and tell her she is not so good all of the time. It's not good to tell her that, unless she is being bad at the time. She'll just think he doesn't love her.

cats view us as "adult cats" especially when they are not around other cats, so it's completely possible for a cat to attempt vocal communication. you can actually teach your cat to say certain phrases, within their physical realm of ability. my cat has different meows and physical body language that he uses to communicate. my cat also barks if he accidentally gets his tail or foot stepped on.. and sometimes, he makes noises, that i SWEAR are unearthly!! haha.. sounds to me like you just have a way cool cat on your hands!!

ha ha ha ha... yes... some cats do attempt to "talk" especially if you talk a lot to her and she has not been around other cats. My cat tries to from time to time... I mean, he "answers" me back... cracks up my freinds whenever he does it.
