OCD is an anxiety disorder. It can have different manifestations. Some people with OCD have constant disturbing thoughts , like thoughts of harming other people or disturbing thoughts of a sexual nature that cause them a great deal of anxiety. Others' OCD is manifested by constantly counting things, or checking things many times . Still others have compulsions, such as washing their hands every time they touch something for fear of catching a disease. The disease can be debilitating, especially when the obsessions/compulsions hinder the person's ability to interact with others or perform a job in a reasonable manner. OCD is thought to be linked with low levels of serotonin in the brain . Anti-depressant medications such as SSRI's have been promising in their ability to counter-act OCD because of their relationship with serotonin neurotransmitters. Therapy is also becoming more readily available, and professionals who work with OCD patients say the typical patient is very likely to alleviate the symptoms with proper therapy.

OCD is obsessive compulsive disorder. Usually it makes people have to do things a certain way, or they like things certain ways. For example, some people might only eat foods in groups of two, or some people might not like certain things washed due to the "feeling" it feels like to them after.
