If there is a Science Center or Children's Museum in your city, that's a great place for a 3yo. Often you can buy a membership & be able to go all year.
Edit - another good indoor place to go is the library. They usually have programs for preschoolers.
Is there a local church that has a MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) group? That's another good idea.

There are some indoor zoos available. Kids museum, does a local hotel have open swimming? Some of them will allow the use of their pool for a miminal fee. How about visiting a nursing home? Some of the folks there would love the visit of a young child? How about cooking together at home? Have fun.

Rent a hotel room for the weekend and have a campout in a make shift fort in the room and go swimming all day long in the indoor pool. He'll sleep great at night and have a blast during the day. My wife and I have done it with our 3 and 1 year olds it's a lot of fun for all. Pizza pool and forts what little boy or big boy wouldn't love that.

My family lives in the Midwest also... but we are RURAL! For a special treat... look around and see if their are any plays in your area. My 3 year old son is addicted to Diego... so we took him to see it. We are also going to go to a Monster Truck rally as well. These are not every day things, but it will be something that will stick with him for a VERY long time! Indoor swimming at a local hotel or YMCA is great... children's museums are wonderful also! About this time of year we begin planting seeds indoors for our garden. My children have always loved to help with that also. Have your 3 year old pick out some flowers, or veggies and spend a day planting. Let him/her help water every day and when summer hits..let them help transfer the plant out doors. With fruits or veggies.. your child can pick fresh food from the "garden" all summer long and you can remind them that they grew these beautiful things all on their own! (plus they make a healthy treat!) Good luck to ya, and get creative. a child's imagination at this age has no boundries.

Time to be a real b-tch hon.For HIS sake mom. He loses driving privileges, no inner maximum telephone calls,no cellular telephone, 2-3 alterations of garments,no door on his mattress room,no going to buddy's residences, and not one of the pot heads he has been putting with are to come again on your place and tell them in case you spot them back, forget approximately you telling their mothers and fathers, you will wait until you recognize they are smoking pot and make contact with the law enforcement officers. next tell your son"sure some childrens DO injury the regulations.I enforce the outcomes". I actually have a brother who's clever as a whip.he's likewise a pot head,he's in his 40's and lives in a cellular abode devoid of working water and a drop twine for electrical energy.that's how the doorstep son would be residing at some point because of the fact if he can't bypass a drug attempt to get a job he can no longer pay his charges then. If he DOES get a job that's in all probability he will fail a random drug try. tell the probation officer the subsequent time he gets caught doing pot or fails the drug try, he will arrest the doorstep son and enforce the regulation or you will report the officer for no longer doing his interest, and that's going to be on the close by information! Get a drug try kit and tell the doorstep son he would be taking them daily!the 1st time he fails it, the probation officer would be coming to take him to detention center.
