Do not wear contacts and throw away contacts that you were wearing right before the infection. Go see your eye doctor or primary care doc and get PRESCRIPTION antibiotic eye drops if you do indeed have an infection.
It's hard to say what you are "allergic to" since everything going into your eye on top of an infection isn't doing your eyes any good.
If you are infected you're highly contagious and should not go to work or school until you have been cleared to do so. your doc will need to recheck your eyes after the eye drop treatment is complete.
You should not use a towel that anyone else might use, use paper towels instead. Change your pillow case every day until your infection is gone. Do not wear contacts until the infection is long gone. Throw away mascara, eye drops, eye shadow, eyeliner, make up brushes, or anything that you have used since this infection started otherwise you will re-infect yourself.
Go to the doctor.

Pink eye is painful, and nothing you do, short of seeing an eye doctor and getting a prescription, will help. So, I'm guessing that you have allergies, but, that is just a guess. With pink eye, any light will be extremely painful, and the eye will be red. There is no relief, believe me. Either way, don't wear your contacts, because any infection will adhere to them, as will any medication.

Hard to tell, but likely allergic. Don't use contacts until your eyes are cleared up.

no keep your contacts out. at least for a while while they are irritated.
if the eye drops you are using are working for you keep doing it.
if you are using a contact solution with CHG (clorhexidine gluconate), that could be the cause of the irritation.
try one without.

IT could be an allergy but to be sure, wait a week. If it comes back, see a doctor. But... by all means do not put your contacts back in.

I would probably wait a few days on the contacts, just to make sure it is healed completely.
