petit mal - Absence seizure
Definition: A petit mal seizure is a temporary disturbance of brain function caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain and characterized by abrupt, short-term lack of conscious activity ("absence") or other abnormal change in behavior. There is usually no memory of the seizure

It doesn't sound like a seizure. Sinus trouble can make you feel like although you know what's going on around you, it seems unreal and it's like you're watching from a distance, not part of it. The vision gets funny and it's as if you can only see a wedge in the front of you. On the sides, what you see is only shiny light like looking through a window in service station bathroom, that closes in making the v of vision you see in front getting smaller. SO. It seemed so unreal I called a friend, who insisted I call a doctor. (Doctor wouldn't know about this...?) But I did, and he said use nasal spray, nose drops, or boil some water and breath steam (Carefully), and lay on your back on the bed with your head hanging off the side. When I took a breath of the moist air from steam, it was like someone raised the window shade! I could see again! Oh yes, while stirring the gravy while this was happening, part of the pan kept disappearing, but breathing the steam fixed it!.
Inncidentally, Allergies can cause sinus trouble, and can also cause headaches that are as severe as migraine but not the same, called histamine headaches.

YES there are. I have worked with and/or seen people who gets a seizure when all that happened is they stop what they were doing and just sit there looking blank into space. From my own experience working with people with disabilities, I know that when people have a seizure, there is no pain involved. So, what you have might not be epilepsy.

Having said that, my advice to you is - You need to see a doctor about it ASAP and get a proper diagnosis.

Do some research on it. There is plenty of website that will give you information - BUT THE BEST INFORMATION is to talk to someone who really knows about epilepsy (say, a doctor or epilepsy education / organisation)

Please, please, please - DO NOT depend on Yahoo!Answers to give you a diagnosis as every man and his dog will try to give you their "expert" advice. GO SEE A DOCTOR!

You should see a doctor. An old friend of mine would have spells of just sitting there or laying there. You would think nothing was wrong, but say something to her and she would not respond at all. Come to find out, she was in fact having seizures. I do believe it was epilepsy, but can't remember, it has been years since she moved away.
