They need to take a break. I was set on buying an HD set, and in a month or two new technology tvs are coming out with even better features and picture quality. When does it end?

When people stop being stupid enough to run out and buy something just because it's "new and improved". My TV is about 15 years old and the Simpsons are just as funny and the Super Bowl just as crass as on a big TV my friend at the office paid over $2,000 for. (And that was the cheap one he was looking at!)

Too bad nobody puts the same effort into improving the shows.

Things will slow down soon. TV manufacturers will release new models every year for a while, as the continue to refine the various display technologies or add extra features. But the HDTV standard itself will not change for quite a while.

At this point there isn't a big reason to wait for a better TV to come out. A quality HDTV that is on shelves right now will give you a great experience for years to come.

Never. Figure the current round of improving displays to last another 5-8 years. A totally new generation of display may be introduced after that. Costs will be coming done however, forever. In the TV world, it's been going on since 1935.

When does it end.... it probably won't! We live in a world were technology moves so fast!!! It may slow down or radically change with new inventions but most likely the technology will always be slightly improved making other products out of date or not as up to scratch.

I saw my first TV in1951, it was in a magnificent cabinet with a 12inch speaker ,the screen size was 9inches circular ! the set was running in a shop window displaying a screen full of snow as Tv transmissions had not quite started, there was a large crowd on the foot path all staring in wonderment !. Am I glad that they kept bringing out bigger and better models ?. You can bet your **** that I am !!! Cheers Pete
