I'm not fat. I'm a very healthy weight, almost under the recomened weight range for my height. But I always feel self-concious becuase a lot of my fat is right under my chin and it makes me look like I have a double chin. How can I get rid of the fat under my chin with out lossing a ton of weight (which I couldn't afford to lose because I'm already on the bottom end of my recomened weight range)? I don't want any kind of surgery, I want to lose it in a natual, health way.

P.S. I eat very healthy food and work out regularly. I'm in very good shape and take good care of my body. I've never had weight problems. I've always been within the lower end my healthy weight range. My problem is not with being overwight or out of shape , or not knowing how to eat healthy, or what to with excess skin caused by losing weight. I simply carry my fat under my chin and I want to get rid of it.

Hi, I have a double chin simply because I am over weight, but I have known people who are thin and have one. I did a little research and found some interesting info. on double chins and some things you can do about it. I agree that it's what is inside that counts, but, if something on your body bothers you, and you can fix it, then you should. It's all about making yourself happy & comfortable with your body. I hope this helps & goodluck to you.

Options for getting rid of the double chin
What Causes a Double Chin?
Double chins tend to be associated with weight gain and/or aging but they may also occur as an inherited characteristic. Like any other part of the body the chin is prone to laying down fat, therefore the most common reason for getting a double chin is too much fat being stored below the jaw.
How Do I Get Rid of a Double Chin?
There are a number of choices available to you. Starting with the least radical:

change your diet to one of high fiber and low calorie. Eat plenty of fruit and fresh vegetables.

Exercise by opening your mouth very wide and pushing your lower jaw forward and then upwards so your bottom teeth extend over the top of your upper lip. Do this 10-15 times and repeat 3-4 times a day. Like all exercise you may need to build up to the maximum number, so don't strain.

Follow your jaw exercise by moderate slapping under the jaw line. Keep this up for a couple of minutes each time.
Beyond these home remedies a thriving market exists in devices and techniques designed to tone and tighten the jaw. However, the most decisive way of removing a double chin is by surgery and specifically via submental lipectomy. More commonly known as a 'neck lift' the standard procedure can be carried out as an outpatient and involves a small incision under the chin. The fat is then sucked out. More complex procedures may involve surgery on muscles or even chin implants.

As insurance generally does not cover the costs of cosmetic procedures a lipectomy will cost somewhere in the region of $2500 but prices will vary according to what is required and the charges and on-costs imposed by different clinics

I think one of the best things to do is exercise your neck. I do this one, when people are not around. I take my lower jaw and (bottom teeth) and jut it out as far as it can go so the bottom teeth are well beyond the top in alignment. I do this a few times a day. You do have to be careful with all exercises with the neck, they can give you a nasty headache. You can also apply massage oil and massage the area--this will bring more circulation there. When you wash your face, include your neck. Use tons of moisturiser on your neck before you go to sleep. They also have excellent facial toners that you can use on your neck. Vitamin A and Vitamin E are both great for the skin. You can either get vitamin E gels and open them up and apply the serum right to the neck, or buy vitamins that have both of these vitamins. Look at your mom or older female relatives. Do any of them have a double-chin? If they do, your chances of getting one is much higher if just merely due to genetics. How much does it bother you? You don't have to spend the big bucks on a face lift. Docs can laser the area and resurface it so the lower chin does not appear as pronounced. Laser and other skin refraction procedures are a fraction of what face lifts cost. They do work for a period of time. Good Luck

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

As your issue isn't caused by excess weight you have 3 possible options;

1. Perform specific exercises aimed purely at the chin and neck area

2. Have liposuction

3. Use firming creams and chin wraps

I go into much more detail on my website which is dedicated to this exact problem.

Getting Rid Of Chin Fat

I'm not sure there is a way to get rid of it naturally. If it's true that you have a double chin even though you're thin (as opposed to me thinking you're having a weird anorexic pov on our chin) then lipo is the way to go.

However, please note that people who do lipo sometimes (more often anyway) find another area that is "wrong" with them...

Unless I saw a picture of said double chin I think you're overthinking it. It may be a little thicker but if you're at the bottom of your weight range, I cannot see how you could possibly have a double chin... I just can't, sorry. :(

it is possible that there is no "natural, healthy way" as you put it, method to do what you'd like.

some people are tall. some are short. some people have long legs, some people have pointy ears. some people have excess skin on their eyelids, some have excess skin underneath their chin. if you are, and always have been, at the lower end of your recommended weight range, this is a big possibility of what you're looking at. cosmetic surgery is one of the few, if not only, option you'll face if this is indeed "just the way you're made."

option #2: be happy the way you are!

You simply have a genetic predisposition for this. Look at a guy named Jay Cutler, the current Mr. Olympia. He also has "baby fat" around his face and neck area even though his body fat is around 3%.

The two options as I see them would be to have surgery (which you didn't want to do), or decrease your overall body fat percentage to see if your chin goes away. Even though you may be small, you may have a high body fat percentage.

*Note - no "jaw muscle building" exercises will help you in this situation. If this were possible, gum chewers would have massive jaws.

When you can stay clear of 500 energy a day you'll be able to eliminate any pound 7 days.
