Little kids have absolutely great imaginations and love
stories, so why don't you start a story with a senence....
like once upon a time there was a little (let her fill in
the blanks)...and continue, letting her put in a word here
and there. Type this as you're creating it and when it's
finished, print it out and let her illustrate it in the margins.
Then make a cover page, give the story a title and include
both your names on it as authors. This will be a great
memory for both of you someday and will stimulate her
to use her imagination and possibly even write a full
story herself. In a world of passive entertainment, this
could be the catalyst for greater things to come from
her.

turn off the computer and go bake cookies...go for a walk if it is daylight and nice out,....take her to a store and let her look at the toys,....read a book together.....take her to the library,....make clay out of salt and flour,...recipes are all over the internet. Very easy to make and fun for the children. Make some zoo animals with the clay, let them dry then paint them tomorrow. You will have two days worth of fun that way! Make popcorn and watch a video together...there are endless things you can do that are free or cost next to nothing.

Here's a site with tons of activities you can do around the house, and materials are usually things that can be found around the house. Just click on the age of the child, then click on the name of the activity to get a materials list and directions. http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=30&e=playandlearn&ccat=play_and_learn
