I have now been single for 18 months after a 3 year relationship and I am ready for another relationship, but now I can't talk to the girl that I like. I am ready for a relationship, but I don't think I can take a rejection. what do I do??

Your best bet would be to start out slow in a classic/old fashioned manner and ask her to join you on the daily jog you take through the park or something. Or ask her out for a cup of coffee. Nothing too extravagant so she won't feel overwhelmed and if it's something that she can fit into her schedule she won't be able to find a reason to say no! If she's a dancer or artist, stop by her studio and drop off a bouquet of her favorite flowers (if you don't know what her favorite are, yellow (for friendship) or pink (for sweet thoughts) roses are safe) or casually bump into her at the bookstore. If it's something casual it's less intimidating .
About the rejection: We've all gone through it and yes it hurts and makes you feel like a complete moron but after a while it starts to wear off and it'll pass and be over with. Look at this way, if you don't ask her you'll never know! Like the old saying goes, how are you going to win if you're not in the game? The worst thing that can happen is rejection, unfortunately, but you'll get over it with time; there are very few records of those who have died from broken hearts. Good luck and the best to you!

it's normal to feel scared to be in the game again. especially since there is a tendency for that after a long relationship that really meant a lot for you.

i would think that guys should already be used to rejection; that is not to say that it happens often but i mean as a part of life. guys should not be affected by it because it's a part of their masculinity. try taking risks again. but this time change your strategy and approach her in a subtle way. be friends first. dont be too forward.

you can look at rejection as courage because you can say that you did something and tried.

You can get her number and call her and just talk to her and pass off some hints but dont jus come out and say "I like you" because then you are taking a chance at rejection.. If she likes you then she wil give off hints as well!! Good Luck
