Albs?

The abdominals are like any other muscle in the human body, they need rest and proper nutrition to grow. If you do 400 crunches a night, not only are you overworking yourself, but your will only hurt your back and feel extreamly sore.

Also, crunches need to be only a small part of a abdominal workout. You need variety. Also, if your not eating more protein, your body will be unable to build strong muscle fiber.

So... short answer... no. Bad idea.

You already have abs. What you want to know is if this routine will help them to show. The short answer is maybe. Crunches will not reduce belly fat. There is no way to reduce belly fat without lowering overall body fat, and belly fat is the last thing to go. While 800 crunches a day will burn a lot of calories, until your body would adjust to that workload, you'd be doin' more harm than good. Find a good balanced workout routine with a blend of free weights and cardio (especially high intensity interval training, since you want to burn fat), and eat a good diet low in bad fats and carbs and high in protein. You do need some carbs and fats, but not nearly as much as most people eat.

Probably not... but not because crunches don't help you lose belly fat. Building muscle... even abdominal muscle... helps you lose fat by increasing your metabolism.

So, why did I say no? Because if you do 800 crunches a day, the first thing you do will be to fatigue your muscle... but the thing that will happen after that is your muscles will quickly become accustomed to doing those 800 crunches. It won't become exercise for them anymore and so you won't build more muscle, but just maintain what you've got. If you don't build more, you won't increase your metabolism and lose weight to show off those abs!

Basically, you'd have to do 800 one day, 900 the next, etc, etc. You could get the same results by doing 50 one day... 60 the next.. and so on. Challenging the muscle group is the name of the game!

And as for cardio burning fat... big fat lie is what that is!! I did maybe 3 hours of cardio a week and 5 hours of weight training. If i skipped half of that cardio a week i still lost weight and inches as long as i ate correctly and lifted weights. I was weight training for about 5 or 6 hours a week! Cardio helps condition one main muscle... your heart! If you want to lose fat, you need to increase your metabolism. To do that, you have to train and build muscle mass!!!

Well if you want abs you need to make sure you are eating healthy as well. You can't just do crunches and expect a six pack if you're eating junk all day......Also you should alternate everyday, abs one day back the next day. A lot of people forget to workout the back muscles as well......hope this help.

unfortunately crunches dont get those abs. they stregthen the ab muscle. you must to cardio to burn off the fat covering those abs. Run, walk, dance, jump, basically anything that gets your heart pumping.
