I'm sorry for your situation. You can feel better and your life can change.
I think panic/anxiety is a symptom of a problem that needs addressing. You could be hypoglycemic, have a hormone imbalance, experiencing adrenal fatigue, have hyperthyroidism-- and while all these issues can be improved with a different diet, some might require blood tests and medication, especially if you have hyperthyroid. And if you're "sugar sensitive", for example, you don't what to change your diet too rapidly because that could mess with your brain's serotonin. If natural remedies don't work, it's because you're trying to cure the symptom, rather than the problem.
Unraveling the cause of panic/anxiety can take time, but while you do, you might try self-hypnosis, relaxation/visualization exercises, meditation or yoga-- something to calm your mind.
I wish I had a better answer for you. If any idea or possible cause here strikes a chord with you, feel free to ask me. Take care.

You got to trust me if I tell you that you can overcome it. Because I did. Is true you have to face the fear but I find it effective if you combine 30 minute of cardio follow by 1 hour of intense weight training 4 days a week to calm yourselve and clear your mind. Whether you are a guy or a girl you need to exercise intensely, I mean not to the point of killing yourself, but to get the endorphine pumping. I been to therapy and everything but it didn't help it only helps if you get out and exercise and explore stuff out there away from your home. Then maybe the therapy work can also be a boost to help you. I can tell you I have only 1% social phobia now. Which is nothing. Try it and you'll thank me later. And you'll feel better about yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally!!! Also stay away from caffeine and any stimulant, and don't get lazy. Sooner or later you can attract lots of people because everywhere you go you're happy all the time and your smiling truly to everyone. Just BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!! Beacause it CAN BE CURED!!!

I do think that you suffer from social anxiety. Nowadays there are medicines to treat this, it is important to get professional help to get your life back. Social anxiety comes from an imbalance in brain neurotrasmiters, which symptoms can be treated with meds. It is not fair that you stay home while other go out and have fun. I think you should try to make the effort to go out. Little by little. I understand you because I am extremely shy and it has been hard to make new friends. I also feel uncomfortable around people but I make the effort. Argentox2@yahoo.com

You may suffer from a borderline personality disorder. Social anxiety is quite common and should not be paid too much undo attention . This could actually intensify fears of an unknown source. It is similar in nature to a mild form of depression. Depression can work it's way inward if you allow it to do so. It's a compnent of a stress "syndrome". In the majority of these cases , the reason for the stress cannot be relieved , until the cause for the syndrome is released. Otherwise, you will enter and exit same proccess at exactly the same point. That is to say it is cyclical in nature until you can identfy the specific stress releaser. Otherwixe it will most likely continue the exact same way. I don't mean to frighten you, please excuse my direct approach.

Very well could be. You need to see a doctor about this before you let it rule your life completely. You are not alone in the world with this problem. My husband and daughter suffer social anxiety. We have had to medicate my daughter so that she can function at school. She was "just wanting to die" she said. You can get past this, but not without help. You either need to see someone about it or get help from a medication. Best wishes to you.

It is social anxiety if you feel terrified to be around people. I discovered I had it when I realized other people around me were easily dating and having social relationships, and I was sitting at home with my dog, because it was so painful to face the world, and the people in it.

My best advice is...GET HELP NOW. I can't stress this enough. It will not go away, or get easier. It only gets worse, trust me.

Go to a therapist and tell him/her your concerns. It has changed my life. Please call soon. Good luck to you. If you want to e-mail me...

Hello. I have a bit of social anxiety myself. I havn't been able to help myself but my sister suffered from it dearly and she has been on zoloff for about 2 years. She said it saved her life. She would have panic attacks on the metro on the way to work. She would have a panic attack because she was worried about having a panic attack. My problem hasn't been that serious yet but I'll keep paxil and zoloff on my mind if I do. Be careful taking paxil if you are pregnant. It has been known to cause negative heart conditions in babies.
