When the Spanish explorers arrived in the region today known as Paraguay, now more than 500 years ago, they encountered the indigenous Guarani there.
"Guarani" cannot be made plural in English. I've also chosen the word "encountered" rather than "found" for political purposes, as I don't believe the Guarani were ever lost! :)
