I carry a glock 23... Its the compact .40
I suggest anything that you can wear, be comfortable, fire well, pull quickly and easily conceal. Id go with a subcompact .40 if I had the money to go buy another one.

surf,
Your question is a tough one to answer properly, as I do not know the state or city in which you live. Some states and cities have enacted laws against the ownership/use of handguns that have a magazine capacity exceeding "X" numbers of rounds.
Once that is established, the choice is a highly personal one. Start with what you would like the weapon chambered in... 9 X 19 mm is a popular chamber, as is the venerable .45 ACP. The only way you're going to figure out what's best for YOU is to try as many different models as possible in a variety of chambers.

they won't be cool to look at and the ammo capacity is constrained, yet a J physique revolver in .38sp is an stunning determination. i might stay away from the airweights, the balk is objectionable to many rookies (and pro shooters...). in case you dont desire to lay our a fortune, taurus makes dozens of good revolvers for hid carry. I carry a Glock 26 many times, its is cumbersome and that i in straight forward terms carry it because of the magazine capacity and my pastime now and back famous me in greater threat circumstances. In my off time, i carry a S&W 438 or SIG 238, now and back some others. a brilliant heavy gun isn't a good determination for a newbie to hid carry, and is a techniques lots extra in all probability to be left interior the automobile or nightstand. The ruger LCP, tiny Keltecs and different breathmint length semi autos somewhat have a time and place, yet are complicated to shoot wisely and have quite some balk because of the fact they're so easy. something previous 20' is a venture for lots of shooters, yet maximum self protection circumstances happen interior that selection.

It's a matter of preference. There are a number of fine weapons suitable for conceal carry. I like the SW Defender w/2' barrel.

I'm in WA, and it's an open gun law state so we can carry with conceal permit. I carry a .22 Beretta Cougar whenever I go fishing or out at night. It's very accurate and small enough to fit in your back pocket. It was my fiance's back up gun when he was on duty, he has big hands too and it fits him perfect.

No single answer is correct. The best weapon for YOU is the one you are most comfortable using in self defense. Find a good handgun range. They will have several guns available for rental. Rent a variety and see which is best for you.

I like a snub nose revolver (.38) as it is dependable and small and safer. The Glock is my second choice as it has more fire power and concealable and more accurate.

sig-sauer p229 is the best hand gun. It's light, powerful, compact, nice ammo capacity, and very reliable, but it is over $1000. You would do well enough with a .38 semi-auto. I would not recommend a glock.
