I broke up with my ex. He was pretty upset... Its been several years since the breakup but I feel guilty about it. I dont know if that means I still have feeling for him? but I've tried to become friends with him, and its seems like he goes out of his way to ignore me? yet he is best friends with my closest cousin and other family members so its annoying because I cant just forget about him because they are constantly around him. I dont understand why he chooses to stay so close with my relatives if he is unwilling to be friends with me. and if I try to aim him or call him, he wont respond and later will say "well what do you want" and yet when im out with my family he'll call them. its just a strange feeling since he only knows my relatives through our relationship. I dont get if he is so friendly with them because he wants to stay close to me? since he always hated being with them when we were together??? or if he just wants to have nothing to do with me and loves my relatives.

I think the term "Ex" suggests your question is in vain.

Let him be around your relatives all he wants. Why would you try to AIM him or call him? He probably thinks he's got you in some sort of game now - where the tables are turned and you are the one to try to make a relationship with him. If I read your question correctly, this is not about your wanting to get back with him. It is about this game he's playing being close to you but rejecting you (unwilling to be friends with you). Lose the guy from your thoughts. The game he is playing is working because you are even thinking about him! It's been several years and he still probably considers you in his life even if he doesn't want you there unless he invites you there. It's like sticking your toe in the water but never deciding to go for a swim.
Date someone else - seriously spending time in a new relationship - and never feel guilty.

It sounds like you still care. Otherwise why ask how you can find out if he still likes you? Besides that, his being around is driving you crazy. Not the 'I hate that SOB' crazy but the 'why does he ignore me because I want to be friends' crazy.

It's understandable that he doesn't want a friendship with you. You broke off the relationship. He sees you and those hurt feelings probably still come bubbling up to the top for him.

But why hang out with your family and friends? The only one who knows that answer is him. But before you go asking him again (only to get the 'well what do you want' response) examine your own feelings first.

If you really are through with the romantic relationship, don't expect a friendship. Decide you've moved on and ignore him. In fact skip out on a few gatherings you suspect he'll be at and get a date to the movies. Etc.

If you really want a 'friendship' with him it's a strong chance you regret the breakup and want to get back with him. Then move to get the relationship back.

Remember, the number one rule in psychology is that you can only change your own behavior. Never anyone else's. Choose your course of action and don't worry about his. Stop driving yourself crazy.

You need to move on and get over it. Sounds like he just likes your relatives and wants nothing to do with you. Best steer clear. He's an ex for a reason, right?

Hmm.. well im not too sure. Maybe he is ignoring you because he is still really hurt - maybe the relationship meant more to him that you think, and the fact that he is still close with your relatives, well poissibly he really does just like them for them, and it has nothing to do with you. Hope you figure everything out, good luck.

he seems to be stalking you from a distance. if he's your ex and only knows your family through you, then he's got a problem. watch out!
