Answers from mike_630 & lotsaanswers are correct. Just want to give additional information. Continental Airlines has daily non-stop flights to Edinburgh Airport (EDI) and Glasgow Int'l Airport (GLA) from Newark Liberty Int'l airport (EWR). If you are leaving from JFK, you'll have to stop in one of the airports in London (Heathrow or Gatwick).

(Newark / EWR - Edinburgh / EDI)
Continental flight CO36 departs EWR at 7:45pm and arrives in EDI at 6:30am after a flight time of 6h 45min.

(Newark / EWR - Glasgow / GLA)
Continental flight CO16 departs EWR at 7:50pm and arrives in GLA at 6:30am after a flight tiem of 6h 40min.

The actual flight time will depend on the winds, speed of the aircraft and the actual route the aircraft flies. The departure and arrival times are local.

Your best bet would be Continental Airlines from Newark.
They have non-stop service to both Edinborough and Glasgow.

Continental is the only airline with nonstop service, to both of those cities from Newark.

I am sure there are.

I have a little travel blog that will help you find the cheapest airfare! Use the Kayak search bar on the right side to find the cheapest airfare!

Once at the Kayak site just change the results on the left side of the screen to only include non-stop flights! Good Luck!
