Your question made me smile because it brought back memories of a simpler time. Yes when I was a kid I use to catch firefly's, or lighting bugs whatever you want to call them. I remember I use to think they were like pixies. I grew up in the 70's

I remember as a kid catching fireflies every summer at my grandparents home in Kentucky. It brings back many memories of my childhood. I can even smell the grass and the summer nights!

Yes!! Only once though. I grew up in the north, and we don't have them here, but we did visit my grandfather who lived in Arkansas one summer and my Dad helped us catch lightnin' bugs - that was so much fun! I'm about 10 years older than you, and I'm hoping to go back and do that again this summer! I have always done that kind of stuff with my kids, and I still try to - even though they are in their mid 20's and married. They often think that I'm just weird, but we always have fun and the memories of those times always make us laugh and cry.

Yes I did, '60s and '70s. My grandchildren, and the children in my neighborhood do it today. I disagree with your observation that children today don't have "real moments" . There may be fewer moments like these, but children will always be awed by nature. Sometimes "fewer" makes things more special.

Your question made me smile also. I went back in time for a minute. I was born in 50's, and we loved lighting bugs. I helped my kids , and now I can help my granddaughters. I am in Alabama, my brother moved to Tennessee a few years back. Now we were up there one summer night, and they had lots more lighting bugs than we do. It was amazing.
