i"ve hung a lot of wallpaper and I always hear of new ideas on getting the old down like steamer or scoring it.......the simple fact is there is no magic formula...........what I would recommend to you and what I normally do is get you a bucket and sponge and start on one of the four walls and start wetting...wett entire wll wait 5 minutes wet again wait 5 minutes wett again wait 5 minutes then start peeling.peel what you can then wet it again......average room probably takes 3/4 of a day if taking down by yourself......good luck

Best way? Hire someone! It will save you a headache.

If you want to do it yourself, rent a steamer, and score(use a rotary razor) the paper. Cover the floor with plastic or newspaper. You should also get wallpaper glue remover, found in the hardware store.

Once you get things going, most times it does go fast.

Have fun!

First--score the paper with a specialty tool like a "paper tiger" from a paint store. Then spray on an emulsifying wall paper removal product again from a paint store. This will dissolve the glue. Let work for the recommended time and remove with various blunt scrapers. Steamers work well too, but mine always leaked. I have heard that fabric softner works to remove old paper too.
