There is no doubt in my mind that some churches are doing exactly that. As I have said many times before, religion is man made and men are imperfect so.....
However, keep in mind that it does not say that every prophet is false...only that their will be some false prophets. I think over the years that every church probably has made some "adjustments" based on their personal interpretation of scripture but not with the intent to deceive necessarily.

No, it is a warning that these kind of people will infiltrate the church. It has happened.
