A conveyor is a device used to transport material from one location to another. The most familiar type is the belt conveyor, but the screw auger also qualifies as a conveyor. Yet other conveyors utilize a discreet container, hook, or clamp of some sort to move material in units or small batches.

A conveyor is often, but not always, a continuous belt that is used to move items from one place to another. It can move vertically; it can move items from one height to another; it can flip items onto their sides and back up again. Conveyors can be used to sort items, collect items, or divide items.
Conveyors are commonly used in manufacturing industries to efficiently move items along the production line. Conveyors have many other uses in many other industries such as food preparation, printing, beverage packaging, and baking.
