DST kicks in the second Sunday of March, and ends the first Sunday in November. It's supposed to save energy, because the sun will go down an hour later. So instead of my kid waiting for the bus in daylight, he'll be waiting in the dark. I'll have the lights on in the morning instead of the afternoon/evening. No energy savings here.

The Senate in their "wisdom' to save energy has decided that by moving the change of daylight savings time to an earlier time will somehow save energy.
Ok, I'm still trying to figure out how this is supposed to help, no idea, but that's the reason why we are changing the time.
