There are THOUSANDS of gods. The one in the Bible was invented fairly recently, compared to all the others.

Two things. One, There is only one Supreme God, but He expand Himself into many in order to execute different affairs. For example: the God who create is an expansion of the original, because the original, being the Supreme, He doesn't need to work, just enjoying, make sense? Why He should work? He is all power full.
Second, there are demigods, who also work and take care of the mundane affairs.

And of course there is always people who invent gods.

There are numerous references in the OT which make it clear that the ancient Hebrews were henotheists, not monotheists.

The Hebrew God didn't care that they admitted that were other gods. He only insisted that he be "numero uno".

Christianity while professing to be a monotheistic religion is in fact not monotheistic because it shares deity among three persons. And there is a trend in the Roman church laity toward elevating Mary in that direction too; she is already considered a co-mediator.

Islam on the other hand is a monotheistic religion. Muslims consider Muhammed and Jesus to be prophets, not gods.

Yep, apparently there are hundreds of Gods. I met them all at a God conference to discuss the davinci code. One God, the one catholics worship (the main one according to a majority of uneducated folk), said that all the Gods were going on vacation.... therefore humans would have to sort all there own sh*t. He also said people should stop using there religion as an excuse for ignorant behaviour such as homophobia as we are all equal and are all his children. (All the Gods also send there apoligies for the social clubs they began that have now caused all the wars and heartache in the world)

There has always been many false gods tempted folks away from the One True God. Some are even powerful, but not compared to God. I think satans helpers had something to do with much of what we read of in mythology. On his last rise to power, he will proclaim to be God! Many will believe him!!!

The word gods is referring to what mankind sees as gods. You can call Shiva a god all day long and that does make him GOD.
The Hebrew word used is (el)

Grace and peace to you.

I believe that the gods refers to those who are the offspring of the sons of god and mortal women ( note Genesis).

gods may be the other "idols" we turn to in life.
they are not worthy... such as beauty, fortune, mythical gods, horoscopes, and people we worship such as movie stars and famous singers. gods basically sums up everything else we admire and appreciate in life, but God outweighs all of those.

i hope this helps.. this is what i THINK it means!!! :)
God bless
