The roof of my mouth itches constantly. It did the same thing last spring. I would use mouth wash and it felt better, but only for a couple minutes. It's really bothering me right now. I thought maybe it was spring allergies, but where I live it's still snowy and freezing, so I have no idea. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

It could be that your taste buds become more enlarged as the year progresses, which will tickle the roof of your mouth. For more inquiries, you should really talk to you dentist or doctor - you could be allergic to something you are eating. Again, ask a professional.

It really sounds like an allergy. Do you use whitening toothpaste? Some people can't, as they have a sensitivity to it. Are you sucking on something during the day that might mildly irritate the roof of your mouth? Eating anything sharp like a lot of chips or crackers?
The mouthwash is cool and temporarily relieves the irritation, but you shouldn't use too much. It also has an irritating property. Try sipping on cool liquids throughout the day. Don't suck on ice; it can also cause irritation to the tissue.

Have you tried taking Claritin? Might be worth your while to see if you get relief. You might also want to mention it to your doctor; maybe allergy testing would be a good idea.

You have my sympathy. I spent years with that very same problem, it made me crazy, and it was allergies. I even used my tongue ring to scratch it (worked very well, oddly enough). If it's happened two years in a row, allergies are highly likely. Something is always blooming and blowing around, Benadryl is the cheapest and easiest remedy, but long term allergy meds have the best effect. Chloraseptic spray will give some immediate relief, or Oragel rubbed onto the roof of your mouth, but these are short term fixes. Good luck!
