When a person asked you to say 'Hi' , 'Goodbye' or 'thank you' for them to someone close to you (eg. your mum, partner etc), do you really do that or it depends?

For instance, when you are leaving your friend's birthday party, your friend says,"thank you for coming, and say thank you for me to your mum for her gift." Will you do that? if yes, how? if you want to do that, but have you ever forgotten?

Thank you

For me, It depends on the person if they have truely haven't seen them in a long time then I will. Sometimes its just part of the conversation and letting you know that they haven't forgot about the other people in your life. To me that is why I think that saying 'HI' or 'Good bye' means.

I always do, however, there have been a few times that I had forgotten, and when I remembered, I immediately said something to the person that I was supposed to tell something to and I apologized and told them that I was supposed to have told them whatever it was that I was supposed to have told them, but that I had forgotten, and so on.

Oh, yeah, and you asked how? I would simply say, "oh, bye the way mom, Marcia said thank you for the gift."

Whenever someone uses me as messenger for that, I usually forget or feel timid to actually say that for some reason. It's pretty dumb. But if I ever do remember, I will tell the person. Only right to do so, but in my opinion it's much more courteous to tell the person yourself.

I have forgotten to tell the person sometimes when I am asked to do that. When I remember, I let the person know. It is only polite to do that.

i usually do....unless i forget...i'd think most people would want to thank the person who gave them a gift themselves...not via a messenger.
