As a police officer who did many field sobriety tests, some drunks can actually walk heal to toe on a line. Now most can't but there are some people over legal limit that are hard to tell without the breath test

If the line happened to be a road that was several lanes wide, then yes, I could walk the line quite easily.

The officer is not actually testing to see if you can walk heal to toe on the line. Even if you can, HOW you walk will tell them more than your ability to walk.

I'd be telling them something like, 'well snap, crackle, pop--I'll walk the line', before and after falling down...

Probably not, but then again it would depend on what line in question.
