This is an Islamic coin from the Ottoman Empire, was used during the year 1808,during the rule of the sultans Mahmoud Bin Abdul Hamid and Mustafa Bin Abdul Hamid:
Face 1:Arabic writting : coined(made, minted, knocked) in Qistantiniyah(the Capital of the empire)1223(this is the hijree date=1808 c): thuriba fi qistantiniyah ضرب في قسطنطينية1223
Face 2:an Arabic clligraphy style called "Tugra"cantains the name or signiture of the Sultan or a Quranic word,if you send a larger size higher resolution picture, then I can tell you what is exactly.

It's Arabic script; however that does not necessarity mean the language is Arabic. Could be Urdu, Persian or Classical Turkish as well. The head side appears to be a wonderfully calligraphic rendering of a saint's or sultan's name. Unfortunately I can't read it; but it is a very beaytful medaillon.

I'm pretty sure the morphic design says the name "Jasmine"... but the other side is a bit tougher to understand... but it has a number, probably a date of 1223 on the other side... if you are in posession of this it is most likely quite valuable... jasmine or "yassamine" is a persian/arab name, probably not indian.

cool stuff... metal work looks afghan (just from my point of view).
