Asking is the first step. It also acknowledges that you realize that this is a problem for you. Since you know what the problem is then you are the best one to to know how to tear down the wall.
Like the others said take it a brick at a time.
Life can be good it is up to you. Don't hang out with negative people, don't let yourself be intimidated, take a trip.
