I want a rational answer to this, and not some new-agey doubletalk: is astral projection real? Because if it is, why don't people with this ability spy on other people? I've heard people talk about going to different planes, as well. So, where do people go when they astral project- planet earth, or some other dimension? How does this relate to lucid dreaming? Talk amongst yourselves.

yeah, why doesn't the government employ massive amounts of out of body specialists? they would be the ultimate spies.
Why don't some use their ability for illegal profit?

I think only the most practiced person can astrally project. We probably do this every night when we sleep and don't even know or remember. Lucid dreaming is different. I have lucid dreams all the time, but I know I'm dreaming and when the dream is over I just become more conscious....I don't feel like my soul is returning or anything. Hope this helps....but, if you want astral projection, you have to meditate, pray, and practice, practice, practice. I think it is rare for people to do this and only the ones with the most natural ability can actually do this. It' like anything else, we all have the certain abilities we are naturally good at....figuring which things we are naturally good at is the hard part. Good luck.

I'd have to say yes, it's real. In my only experience of astral projection, I appeared in a room I had never been in physically, and was able to desrcibe a number of details I couldn't have guessed. It hasn't happened since, although I have had very lucid dreams that felt like I was physically in another place. The purpose of it? No idea, though Padre Pio apparently projected, for whatever that's worth.....

I think it's absolutely real. Why don't they spy on others? My guess is becasue if you are enlightened and relaxed and curios enough to be doing astral projection, you're probably not the type to gosnooping around secretly in other people's business. There are all sorts of things you can do when you're free of the heavy body. You can mosey around your house, hover above your neighbourhood. You can visit a friend in need, visit a friend that's gone, check out other planets and systems. Becasue we're not carrying around the earth-dependant body our options to travel and truly limitless.
I think lucid dreaming is more visualizing than actually going someplace.

Astral projection is not real, out-of-body projection is. Remote viewing, different planes, other dimensions, lucid dreaming are real, astral projection is not these.
It is something else entirely. The astral form rarely, if ever, separates from the body.

OBE is real...
Those who can project at will are not interested in physical reality and try to find mysteries of other Astral worlds
Those who love spying and other wordly things... may project ..but not at wil and not controlled
Astral projection is basically a spiritual phenomenon.. and with the progress in sadhna one can get this siddhi
