I told a woman a false age and feel awful about it! What should I do?

I am 41 but put in an online personals ad that I am 36 because so many eligible women weren't interested in me at 41. Now I am dating a sweet, beautiful 30 YO woman and I feel awful about the lie in my ad. Everything else in the ad and everything I have said to her on the phone and in person is the truth. I want to come clean but don't want to lose her and am afraid she will think everything else is a lie too. She really likes me but in her own online profile it says she's only looking as old as 37. What should I do?

tell her. but make sure she knows that, that was the one and only lie. realistically mate, if she is as lovely and sweet as she sounds she won't care that you are older than you said. its whats inside that counts and she seems to like everything else about you

Tell her now before you and her start to get together with other friends because if she finds out through someone else that's even worse and i mean who cares if she is already into you right.This just might bring out her true feelings on what she wants and you are kind or going to deserve whatever you get CZ you lied.But be honest now and tell her why you felt you had to do it and that you can't expect her to believe a damn thing you have to say now but if she does choose to stick around you are willing to do whatever it takes to prove to her that you do feel bad and made the stupid mistake of lieing about your age .So make it up to her and for sure tell her now before she hears it from someone or somewhere else.You really don't want this.Good luck

You're going to have to tell her the truth sooner or later, because if she finds out by herself, it's even worse. It might as well be sooner than later. Just tell her the truth, but swear to god that everything else wasn't a lie at all. She will think you are a good person, since you confessed early.

Bite the bullet and tell her the truth before this goes any farther. Imagine how angry she'll be if you two get really serious and she finds out you lied to her! I think she'll forgive you now, more than she would later down the road. If you wait, she's going to wonder what else you've been lying about and it could cause some serious problems.

I don't think she will leave you , its not to big of an age gap.. So come clean with it the sooner the better...I feel she really likes you and this wont be a problem, she will fall in love with your guilty conscience and your honesty (your telling the truth because you don't want to lose he ) Good luck

I think it will be okay to tell her your age because it is not a big difference.But next time be honest because that works out best in the long run trust honesty goes far with the ladies even if something that just do not want to here sometimes.

yeah, people put a death sentence on 'age' the number so putting your false age opened different doors for you. intitial outward appearances are typical for people to judge you from their own or societal expectations. whether it's going to make a difference to her now or not. you may want to be honest with her now. how she handles it is up to her. Im 47yo. Id like to say Im ten years younger...a whole 'nother group of people would open up to me...but its not honest.

well, the only thing you can do at this point is to tell her the truth before things, and feelings go any further. if you care about this lady then you owe it to her to tell her the truth.
