Hair will continue to grow, even with split ends. However, here is where it gets tricky. Depending upon the current health of your hair, usually, with split ends, the hair itself will split all the way to the hair shaft and fall out on its own. But if your hair is in an overall healthy state, your hair will continue to grow and you probably won't shed the hair(s) from the split end(s) as quickly as if your hair was damaged. You can use hair products that will temporarily mask/mend split ends until you have them trimmed. Again, if your hair has been damaged from over/under processing/heat/hair accessories, hair in general will have a very difficult time growing and the split ends will make your hair appear worse. Either way, it is best to trim your split ends. It makes for a healthier and more beautiful head of hair.

Hair grows from the scalp not from the ends. Broken ends are caused by dead and split ends which makes the hair snap off and keep it from achieving length.

no it doesnt. It happens from wearing and tearing like if you put your hair up in a pony tail. You should get them snipped off thats the only way to get rid of them.

The roots grow.
The ends... will split. So you'll end up with long, damaged hair. I recommend a haircut!
