Unfortunately there is nothing you can do at this point but to wait out the scabs coming off. The bleeding is from the thick scab cracking and pulling which is causing irritation and redness around the tattoo.

Be careful not to catch the scabs on things like clothing, etc.

Please keep putting unscented lotion on it several times a day with very clean hands and be sure the tattoo is kept clean, too.

There are ways to prevent this thick scabbing. Do you mind telling me what you did the first day - specifically right after the tattoo?

Wash with warm soapy water. Pat dry, let air dry for 15 min. and put some anti-bacterial ointment on it. Tattoo Goo would of been good, but it sounds like the tattoo has not been properly maintained and now you have to keep it from getting infected. After a week, the scabs should be soft and falling off by them selves as the tattoo is cleaned and cared for not like a scraped knee healing.

I don't think you have too much to worry about. With the excessive scabbing, that's your body's way of letting you know there was a slight infection due to the trauma of tattooing. It sounds to me you are healing nicely. That is very normal. Continue to keep an eye on it just to make sure there isn't any discoloration on the surrounding skin and that it doesn't begin to smell. If it does, use a very mild anti-bacterial wash. Do not place any cream on it because the goal is to dry up the area to further encourage scabbing thus healing. If this continues for at least another week, then I'd say it's time to consult your doctor. Good luck with everything and don't worry! Enjoy your tattoo!

Thats normal but the artist should have given you something to put on it.I have always used "Tattoo Goo".It works great.
By all means do NOT put neo-sporin or anti bacterial ointment on it.And don't pick at the scabs either.Good Luck!!

Actually it should be fine but do not use neosporin or anything antibacterial! antibacterial stuff kills the good and bad germs, so I would never heal like it's supposed to! Try to keep it clean and Put some A&D ointment on it and It should heal just fine!

wash it with anti-bacterial soap only. what ever you do, do NOT put any neo-sporin on it, it will heal parts of your tattoo and other parts will disappear.
