I know your not supposed to exceed 15 minutes per session in a steam room. Anyone know approx. how many calories are burnt per minute...just sitting in a steam room? It seems too easy.

Although weight loss due to perspiration (water loss) is quickly regained, sending more blood to the capillaries and converting fats and carbohydrates results in as much as 600 calories burned during one short sauna session.

You know what they say? If it seems to good to be true then it is! That is exactly what this is. You do not burn significantly more calories sitting in a sauna than you do watching TV. The reason you do not stay in that environment for more than 15 minutes is because the high heat can be harmful to your internal organs and may cause health issues. IF YOU WANT TO BURN CALORIES YOU HAVE TO EXERCISE. If all we had to do to burn calories was to sit around most of North America would be in excellent shape! Get up and go!

It is only temporary. The reason you are not supposed to be in one for more than 15-20 minutes is because it draws water out of your body so you are only losing water weight, but as soon as you start drinking water again you gain that back. I fell asleep in one for about 45 minutes once (I was working 2 jobs at the time) and I felt really weak for several hours afterwards, even after drinking a lot of water.

Sitting there, because your body temp is rising and you are sweating, will burn about the range of calories as if you run a 10 km run.

I found a website that helps explain the "body fat loss" process":

Hardly any.

Eat only when hungry and not more than three times a day. Take only water in between.

Chew each morsel at least 32 times for effective functioning of ur natural system of telling u that u have had enough.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve ur ideal weight in a reasonable period effortlessly and permanently.

You will burn many calories if a fat, hairy guy, chases you around the room.
