They fail (rarely), there's some psycho out there who's got a lawsuit against the people who did hers where she's asking for the money to raise the child. Read the forms people, they admit that it doesn't always work.

Yes it can fail. It rarely happens, but it can happen. Okay Here's how I know. My best friend is a hispanic girl who doesn't know english and I went and translated all the paperwork and insrtuctions to her when she had an abortion. Usually abortion should be done at a minimum of 2 weeks late of your period. which would make the fetus about 6-7 weeks old (Big enough to see on a ultrasound) and big enough to not miss it. If it is done earlier than that it is too small and there's a 50/50 % chance of getting it out. Also there is paperwork that has to read and signed, it goes over all of the risks that come along with an abortion. One of those risks is that the fetus can be missed or not completely taken out. Therefore you would have to go back for the procedure. When you sign those papers, that means you were aware of that and you cannot sue. Also it shouldn't be an ectopic because they perform an ultrasound to determine where the fetus is, and also to make sure it is in the uterus. When you are pregnant your body produces a hormone which pregnancy tests detect. After a Abortion your body will still have those hormones in your body for at least 2 weeks, so if you take any tests they are going to show positive b/c the hormones are still there. You have to wait at least 2 weeks after the abortion to do a pregnancy test because by then all of those hormones should have exited the body. 3 days after the abortion is too soon, the hormones are definitely still there. Also cramping is normal after an abortion. you can even cramp during the abortion procedure itself. They should do an ultrasound to make sure there isn't anything in there. If it was a missed abortion and she is pregnant then she would either have to get an ultrasound to make sure everything is still intact, and not an arm or head taken off. Most likely the recommendation will be to go through the procedure again for her health purposes and risks she or the baby could face if left to term.
p.s. Some women bleed after an abortion, and others may not bleed at all and that is completely normal. Also if she feels great that's not a problem either. You can usually go back to normal activity after one. Only thing you can't do is duche, or bath (showers only) , cannot wear tampons, or have sex for at least 2 weeks after the procedure. (It takes 2 weeks for the cervix to close) They also should have given antibiotics to prevent infection.if you soak an entire pad in 1 hour that is too much bleeding and she should call the doctor. If temperature gets to 100.4 call the doctor.

I don't see how a D&C could fail, but I suppose it's possible. They could've missed the embryo/fetus completely, or left a piece inside of her. I'd be filing a lawsuit. She should see a doctor as soon as possible (because if they left a piece of the embryo/fetus inside of her uterus, she could be in serious danger), and possibly find a different clinic if she still wants to abort.

She may have an atopic pregnancy in her fallioian tube. That is often missed during a D&C and can only be properly diagnosed with a blood test that looks for hormone levels.
If the tube ruptures, the person could bleed to death so I would think one would want to get tested for that possibility.

it is possible she could still be pregnant, i no this because it happened to me. unfortunately doctors didn't realise till i was 5 months pregnant. he was still alive but there was nothing they could do for him. i suggest you get it sorted immeditely and if everything is ok with the baby then seriously think about what you want to do. take it from someone who knows, you dont no what you've got till its gone. and i would do anything to turn back time and have my little boy with me.
i didn't sue because no amount of money could replace what i lost. but that is down to personal opinion.
as for knowing if everything will be ok with the baby only the doctors can tell you that.
if she is still pregnant there are alot of difficult decisions involved, but alot of good people who will help

Oh goodness. There is definitely a reason that your baby lived. Obviously God blessed you with this amazing child for a reason. I think that you should definitely check to make sure to make sure that the baby is ok, the continue on with the pregnancy. Please keep the baby. It didn't ask to be conceived. If you don't want it, just put it up for adoption. I wish you the best of luck with everything. GOD BLESS.

There may be a part of the fetus left in her. This happens sometimes and, believe me, it could be dangerous. Infection and hemorrhaging can occur. She may want to go somewhere preferably her own regular doctor and take care. Another d and c may be in order. Nothing to goof around about, believe me!!!!!!!!

Wow that is really risky....yes it can happen and yes it could jeopardize the pregnancy. I would think that she would not go full term as if they removed most of what would be the placenta the baby would not be able to survive. I would go back for another ultrasound to check vitality of the fetus. And yes sue the clinic!!!
