My birthdays coming up and I was just wondering a polite, short, simple, easy, non-stupid way to accept a gift.

Hope you have a wonderful birthday. Obviously say Thank you. Try to add a comment mentioning what you like about the gift, examples: favorite color, been wanting this for ages, goes with something you have, etc. If you think it appropriate say how thoughtful they are. I try not to say "You shouldn't have".

Always act like you didn't expect it (because really YOU shouldn't have). Always say thank you.

If it is a gift that shows the person made any effort at all; I always make a point to bring it up again with the person at some later date how much you have used/enjoyed it.

This graciousness will cause you and the other person to feel better about the exchange & it will act to strengthen your relationship (whatever it may be).

Say thank you. And if the gift is one that showed some thought and/or expense, a thank you note should be written and sent thru snail mail.

A Thank you is fine , if you want to go the extra mile, send a sweet little thankyou card to them, later, people love this, especially in the e-mail era, it's nice to get a real note, from time to time.

Be gracious and thankfully settle for the present. To do in any different case places the giver instantaneous questioning in the event that they made a misstep offering something to you. present giving is purely as lots exciting for the giver because of the fact the recipient---you ought to the two relish the 2d. grants over the telephone------purely cling up.
