I know this may sound stupid to some people that wear glasses, but I got my glasses yesterday. I am nearsighted and every time I put them on, I get a headache. Not a really bad one, but I get one. Is this normal? If so, when will it stop? Also, how do I get used to it pushing my ears out and poking my nose?

In time it becomes a part of your face; I've gotten in the shower with my glasses on!

The 'headache' is also normal. Your eye muscles, optic nerve and brain are adjusting to vision and perception with the lenses.

So be consistent with them, and only take them off if you really can't tolerate it, but try to put them back on again soon. If you don't find that you're getting used to them after a couple days, go back and have them recheck that the prescription is correct - I once had the place reverse my right and left lens prescriptions.

Of course, the best source for this advice is your ophthalmologist/optometrist because only they know your prescription and whether you should wear the glasses all day or only use them as needed, such as for driving and in a classroom or other distance situation.

Conventional optometry has been hiding behind things like a driving economic force for some time. It is this sector -- the corrective lens industry -- that is making the profits, that has the money to decide what research gets funded, and what conclusions are permissible to print in the optometric and ophthalmological journals.

If they were to reveal that vision could be improved naturally (just by yourself), then a huge sector of the economy would go up in smoke.

Read more about what happened to this girl Jennifer when she wore glasses for the first time, what she observed, then read especially what Alex Eulenberg says: http://groups.google.co.im/group/sci.med.vision/browse_thread/thread/3a1e7ba73114b414/
Her experience is similar to mine when I wore glasses AND contacts a long time ago.

This shows what two differing perspectives think regarding the "getting used to glasses" controversy.

I'm considering using them too. Although I do plan to breastfeed so it won't be very often that I use a bottle, but there may be occasions when I leave the baby with "daddy" for a bit and need to leave him some expressed milk just in case. But I figure, BPA is just one of the chemicals in plastic...there may be other things that leach out when heated and the fuss just hasn't been raised over them yet, so though we won't be using bottles on a regular basis I'm leaning towards glass when we do just to be on the safe side.

Your prescription is too strong. Tell your eye doctor your not comfortable with the vision your glasses are giving you.
he will probably re-examine you and make a decision. you have to be straight with your doctor and he should be patient and caring to you. If not you may want to see a new eye doctor that can provide more compassion and help you find glasses that don't make you dizzy and get headaches.

just wear them al little at a time til you get used to them. It will all stop bothering you in a few days. The more you wear them the faster they will stop bothering you. All of that is completely normal.

Just by wearing them consistently. At first you probably think you can't see as well as you should, but after a few days and when you take them off, you'll tell a big difference.

Have them check to make sure they are the right scrip, eye glass places do make mistakes. As far as comfort take them back and have them readjusted

it will take some time for your eyes (and ears) to get used to them. Hope it isn't too much longer for you.
