Get the diet cat food - Science Diet makes a great one. My cat loves it.
Follow the directions on the back of the bag for weight loss. An adult indoor cat only needs 1/2 cup per day.

Have your cat examined by a veterinarian to rule out any health problems. The vet will advise you on a weight reducing diet if no medical problems exists. With obesity in cats the potential for serious health problems exists which include heart problems, diabetes and definitely shortening the life of your cat.

Use a lite formula like good brands such as Eukanuba carry a lite formula especially for overweight cats. If it tends to eat alot give it set times to have food left out, don't leave it out 24/7.

OKAY, your cat is overweight. First things first you should definetly take it to the veteranarian. They will tell you lots of info. If they dont help feed it no wet food, and feed it dry food ONLY at breakfast time and at dinner, only fill the dish half way.
Hope I helped.

Let go of any emotions you may have thinking about cutting back on her food. Don't feel bad, guilty, that you're hurting your cat. No doubt you love your cat enormously! Just get because you love her you're changing her eating habits. Above all, embrace your cat as Fluffy, not fat :-)
