My friend has been sober for 5 years, and I would like to do something special for him. He cannot have ANY alcohol at all, not even the negligiable amount in certain desserts or in non-alcoholic drinks (which is something like .5%). Is it safe to use sparkling cider or grape juice for the celebration, or should I just stick with Peligrino?

No, there is no alcohol is sparkling cider. My mom is a recovering alcholic too...At Thanksgiving time we all drink sparking cider in champagne glasses so that she does not feel left out.

Hi There, Congrats! I have a beautiful healthy 4mth old girl. During my pregnancy I drank Growers Non Alcholic ciders. They were point.5's. My doctor said they were completly safe. They were great during the summer months, and also through the Xmas holidays. I lost track how many boxes of cider I bought. Heck, they even orderd them in for me. I recommend the cranberry or rasberry ones. I still drink them now ( as I am breastfeeding). I know several others that drank these ciders too. You would need to drink four ciders just to hit 1% of alchool. I am pretty sure the gripe water that you give babies contains more alchool then that. But if you are worried you should ask your doctor.

No, sparkling cider is fine, no alcohol. Read the label to be sure of the product but it isn't supposed to have any. When it is sparkling, it just seems special...better than grape juice.

no, there isn't. at walmart you can also get sparkling red or white grape juice....i think the red is the best.

i don't know, though, if i would use something that comes in a wine shaped bottle like that. if you are celebrating soberity, you may want to have a punch bowl out or something.
