I've used them for most of my trips and haven't had any problems so far with them. Just be sure that you only book the rooms upon confirmation, else you might have to go through the hassle of getting refunds for your cancellation. If you need to book last minute, you might want to call the hotels directly or try this other website that I'm recommending below. It's pretty expensive but I guess when you book last minute, you're desperate, so you'll gladly pay the higher price so long as you get a room.

Hi Pete, you are booking through an intermediary party when you book through Asiarooms.com. This hotel booking site is quite popular and had been used by some people without any problem.

I do understand your reservation on this safety issue. But I will need to add that you need to read the cancellation policy for the hotel that you are booking as some do not allow cancellation after booking!

What I can offer is that you find a hotel from the site, try and find its direct contact information and book directly with the hotel concerned. Most major hotels can do this.

Exception will be the smaller boutique hotels who actually rely on these hotel reservation websites to help them with customers over the net as they do not have their own booking facility yet.

So you will need to check. If you are going to Thailand, I may be able to help you with the hotel information. You can email me at thaitourinfo@yahoo.com. Regards.

If you are not aware of the risk, better not to send CC details.
If they have mailing address or contact information, then maybe you would like to make sure that you are sending the information in the right place.. Even we know the hotel, and the place, we always make sure that we would only pay upon arrival..if they don't accept it..there's more hotel available that would accept the payment upon arrival without necessary giving CC information.
One thing is we found a hotel that they charge more using credit cards than paying cash because the rates changes anytime .so we do cash payment.
I would not say that this is not safe because most of the hotel reservation now can be done through internet and they have more discounts, but you can have more choices if you check for more options..
Hope this helps..

I have used asiarooms.com many times. It is safe and reliable. They do not make reservations 48 hours prior to your booking so do it before then. I have never had a problem and would recommend them without question.
