The maximum sentence for 2nd degree assault in MD is 10 years. No one gets 10 years for a first time offense depending on the severity of the offense. Instead, suspended sentences and probation are the way to go.

it mostly depends if there are any priors, and the degree of the assualt. For a first offender no time, probably probation, second offense 1 month to 4 months
