I've been telling people this for centuries and I am always amazed at their incredulity when they learn the truth. Of course, I cannot divulge the secrets of my prison house, as the Bard used to say near Stratford,on Avon when wine was cheap as well as the women.
Mythology is an attempt to explain the supernatural in current terms that our society can accept, perhaps all religion is thus; however I think there are some deeper truths that we as mortals may never be able to fully explain.

Yes. Seeing as how in modern time the ancient greek and roman religions have been pegged as mythology. Don't forget about the norse, mayan, aztec, native american, ancient chinese, and many more ancient beliefs. In the future the religions of today will be looked at as nothing more than mythology in the future.

The study of mythology is in itself a religion. For many it is an "activity pursued with zeal" which makes it dictionary definitive.
Were I to reword your question I would use "supernatural entity or entities belief structure." Nevertheless, this is the age of sound bytes, so most folks will keep calling their calling religion.

No, religion unlike mythology is based on a truth. Christ did live and walked the earth.

Since most 'mythologies' are more logical and benevolent than existing religions, yes.

That time came with Aristotle.
Evolution is a slow process and ignorance is very persistent. I'm afraid magical thinkers will be with us for as much as another millenium, assuming they don't lead us to our own extinction trying to fulfill their apocalyptic death cult visions.

No. Regardless what religion you claim to be it is probably somewhat important to you. Even if you are Atheist it is still a religion and important. Many religions almost have to be bogus but if it makes just one person a better person than it is doing what it was originally designed to do.
