I had the same thing happen just from twisting wrong at work when a patient fell and i tried helping him to the floor. It got to be the point of a sharp pain and then shooting pain down my left leg to the point where it would be tingly or numb. I had an mri done and they found i have a ruptured, hurniated disc, but too small to have surgery on. My dad has had the same thing, and had a chipped disc. It could also be a pinched nerve. THere are so many possibilities, but if you don't get it looked at, let me tell you from experience, it won't get any better. Once you have back problems you will always have back problems, but they can be so much more managable if you take care of them now.

See a doctor for a definitive diagnosis. I waited and eventually 2 discs ruptured, but it took 10 years. Stay away from weights. I don't walk any distance and I never stand in one place very long. Stretching is a definite plus, I ride a bicycle and this really helps the pain in lower back., don't know why. But even chiropractor notices a difference in spams if I ride my bike there vs driving. Good core exercises are best when you use an exercise ball. Stay away from sit ups and curls. With the exercise ball, you can position yourself to work each muscle group in your stomach without any stress on your back. I also have a TENS unit and that is my god send, you can buy these on line for about $65.00 and no RX is needed! I don't take meds either.. Alertnate ice and heat too. Most people have one leg longer than the other, some more than others. Make sure you are wearing good flat shoes. Get an insert (extra support with a lift, at minimum extra support) to put in your shoe. This will help alot too

Sounds like it might be Sciatica. Try some Ibuprofen, Heat, Ice which ever works best for you.. Then see your MD. They can order x-rays or an MRI to determine the problem.. Good luck. Going through it right now.

Search for SCIATICA, see if the symptoms are the same as yours. It's to do with the nerves. Hope you get rid of it soon...the pain, not the leg !

Do you drink a lot of water? See a doc! It could have something to do with your kidneys. Check out webmd.com!
