My step mom just got a pair of budgies from pet-co ( I know bad place to get your pets), anyway one of the birds is sick, he is fluffed up and is very warm, he has not gotten to the point of being at the bottom of the cage and I believe it may be a cold, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a home remedy? otherwise we are returning it.

Just return it. Let them deal with the sick bird, and get yourselves a healthy bird. Occaionally, a sick budgie will get well again--by keeping the cage in a warm, draft-free place, offering someplace for the bird to snuggle up to stay warm, and keeping the ambient noise and activity to a minimum-- but most birds die from such simple things. I suggest going a step further, and returning both birds. If one is sick, the other may become ill before too long. Take the birds back to the store, get a refund, and find a different retailer to buy some healthy birds. If there is a single sick bird in the aviary, just walk away.

What would be best for the bird is to take it to the vet and get proper treatment for BOTH birds. If one is infected, chances are, all of them are.
Most birds that get sick in chain pet stores sadly don't get the care they need. I have heard many horror stories of birds being put in the back to die.
Over the counter or home remedies usually just mask the symptoms and don't cure the bird. They are a low level antibiotic that just makes the germ resistant to what a vet could do for them.

oh know!!!!!!!!!!!!! i got 16 of them! u gotta by parakeet medicine in pet-land or wherever...NOW OR IT'LL DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! make sure temperature is warm around cage!!! wrap cage in cloth at night so it gets warmer.i hope ur budgie gets better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
