So, I been trying to rearrange my eating habits and count calories. I ate a salad for lunch this afternoon. But, like.. because Im watching my portions.. I wasn't sure how to count a salad in general. I stuck around a cup and a half of leafs or so.. but I don't know if that is right at all.

How much salad should really be in a salad? Especially one with green bell peppers and cucumbers with a lemon dressing?

sadly, I'm very curious...

thank you,

Dominick

the vegetables you put in your salad have little calories, so don't bother counting them. What you have to watch is the dressing, make sure it's fat free and use as little as possible. Also watch cheese, bacon, croutons, sunflower seeds... things like that, read the calories per serving and add them sparingly. Use fat free cheese also. and don't eat too many crackers with the salad, they are high in calories, these can be bought in fat free also so they have fewer calories.

I think veggies is something you shouldnt really fret, because they are extremely low in calories and they are good for you. I think when having salads the thing you should focus on is the dressing because thats where the extra calories usually come from.

I wouldn't worry about the vegetables in the salad, it's the dressing that contains a lot of calories.
