Well I hope the answerers read this reply!

The reason she has the idea of doing that is simple. The Animal Rights movement is pushing High bred vigor, half the people posting in this forum are bragging about designer crosses, good breeders are limiting registrations and leaving those who want to try to breed something no other choice, the list is very long. Of course I think it would be great if she were following excellent protocols and breeding a researched pure bred litter but considering what has been happening in the last decade it is no wonder why she isn't.

As far as an overpopulation of small breed (or mixed breed puppies) HA! Shelters in some areas are importing small young adoptable dogs what there is an overpopulation of is Large mixes, particularly pit and pit mixes.
Shelters are getting $400 for a mixed small breed mutt!

Meanwhile there are pure bred dogs in rural areas that can't get that much! So it is no wonder why she is trying to do this.

Okay, females usually stand (accept the male) on the 11-14th day, they are in season generally 21 days. I don't think it is a good idea if this is her first season either. Also if the male is the part dachshund your females life may be in jeopardy. Further the body type of a dachshund is very different from a Chihuahua and you may see some not so good abnormalities in a cross like that, even though it would be 3/4 Chihuahua

Well the first thing you are doing wrong is breeding these two dogs. But then again I am not sure what you are breeding to who lol so far I see three dogs here. My advice to you is to tell you what you are doing is totally wrong to be doing..but since you are going to do in it anyway I might as well give you ideas here before you hurt your poor dogs. On the 12th day of her heat cycle she will be in her prime. She will stand for the dog then. Wait until the female is 2 years old, but I really don't think you are going to do that either.. My guess you are breeding her on her first heat which is totally wrong too. Really what you need to be doing is stopping right now and not be breeding at all. There is no way you are ready for this and you can do some damage to your dogs.

for one it's not chiwawa it's C-H-I-H-U-A-H-U-A

and for two it's not ok to breed those two breeds together. you are just contributing to an already BIG problem. it's sad that you would want to become a back yard breeder(BYB) it sounds to me that you have no idea what is needed when breeding two dogs together. and you need to educate yourself on this subject before you start breeding.

these two animals have a lot of health problems as it is. and why would you want to breed them to create puppy that will have multiple health problems and wont last for very long.

I'm sorry to be rude but I feel that there are too many BYBs in the world already and we don't need another one. if you really want one then just look in shelters or on petfinder.com.

and for three it is wrong to breed your dog when it has just started to bleed. she's not ready for a litter yet and probably wont be until about 2-3 years of age. and you should ask your vet also if she is ready she could have something wrong with her or something and it could kill her or the puppy's when giving birth. please take her to the vet it's the best thing to do for your dog.

UUUGGGHHHH!!!! Why are you doing this?
-First of all you should not intentionally breed mutts.
-Second, if this is her first heat, she is WAY TOO YOUNG
-Third, if you do not know about canine heat cycles, you definitely do not know enough to be breeding any dogs.
Fourth, you cannot even spell your dogs' breeds correctly: "part chiwawa and part dash hound with a teacup chiwawa" It is spelled C-H-I-H-U-A-H-U-A and D-A-C-H-S-H-U-N-D, and no such thing as a teacup anything!

I'd recommend you see your vet BEFORE you proceed any further.
They can advise you about breeding, let you know if your dog is healthy enough and large enough to be bred, and let you know what the costs involved are (there are many).
Please be educated before you make this decision.

Do NOT breed your dog...delibrately breeding mixes is irresponsible. Also breeding with a "tea cup" Chihuahua is not a good idea. There really is no such thing as a teacup Chihuahua..all they are is undersized dogs who often have serious health issues. The "teacup" is only a term that irresponsible breeders use to sell the runts or the dogs that they bred smaller then the breed standard allows.
A Dachshund/Chihuahua mix is also not the best cross health wise..Dachshunds and Chihuahuas are very prone to pregnancy and whelping complications as well.

You also should NOT ever breed a dog under 2 years of age and one that has not had and passed genetic health testing. Anything else is totally irresponsible.

OK First of all, I think that all of those pet owners out there that are treating the asker of this question the way that you are is wrong. They may not be as aware about the pet overpopulation as we are and second of all not everybody is educated about this as some of us are. Let me start by saying that Yes there are many unwanted dogs but if this person is going to breed them anyways why don't you just give them some advice so that they dogs don't suffer from improper breeding.
This being her first cycle, she may have many problems if you breed her now, so my recommendation and that's all it is it's none of my business is that you may want to change your mind about the breeding or at least wait until her 3rd cycle or something. If you decide to change your mind you can't get her fixed until after she's out of heat because the risk of significant bleeding is really great
good luck and hope this helped you

Problem #1: breeding a dog on the first heat is like letting your 14 yr old daughter get pregnant - a recipe for disaster. Some dogs don't even ovulate or ever stand for a male on the first heat. Definatally it won't be on the second day!!!!
Problem #2: Are you sure you are gonna find homes for more crossbred pups?

Oh honey...you need to not breed them.

Do you realize that that small of a breed of dog would have a difficult birth and most likely need a c- section.

Why do you want to breed them anyway? It's not a good idea to breed dogs unless you are experienced. My advice is to spay/neuter the dogs and not try and make money from dogs having sex.

If you don't know anything about this, then you shouldn't be breeding. Plain and simple.

-You shouldn't breed a dog on thier 1st heat.
-you shouldn't breed mutts.
-you shouldn't breed if you don't know what youre doing
-if the teacup chi is a female, breeding her is especially risky, esp. breeding her to a larger male

Get your dog spayed/neutered. It's best for their health.
