DEON, the Supra has a 3.0 inline six, not a V6!

They didn't stop making it, they just stopped selling it in the US because it could not compete MARKET-WISE with cars like the Corvette (yuck!)

Yes you can still buy them, but as was said, they stopped making them in 1998 so you will not be able to find a 2002 model. A 1998 MKIV (last version of the Supra sold in the US) still goes for just under $30,000. You can find them cheaper, but it will more than likely have been dogged out by some kid who didn't know how to drive it, with a rebuilt engine and it's 3rd set of turbos. Don't recommend it. As was said, they weren't truly appreciated by the rest of the country (ie, the non-Supra enthusiasts) until after they were no longer sold here, which is why they are still so expensive. Talk about holding their value!

I would also disregard the "refrigerator" comment... although the cars are heavy (about 3500 lbs), they are only about 200 lbs heavier than a Corvette. Any lighter and the car would be all over the road (the back end has a tendency to try and rush up to the front in turns if you don't know how to properly handle it haha).

The Supra was snubbed by the mainstream public just like the Nissan Z car and Mazda RX7...a japanese sports car?...only the hardcore tuners and open minded car nuts could appeciate the Supra especially the 92-98 model...what a sexy beast!...3 litre V-6 twin turbo with 6 speed transmission...there are models that have been modified to have 500 to 1000 horses...this is one of the reasons why Lexus exists because Toyota felt like they had to create a whole new corporate enity to sell luxury cars in the US....now nearly 10 years after the fact, magazines like Motortrend , Car and Driver; etc...acknownledge that the Supra was one of the baddest cars to hit the streets..a Japanese musclecar.

The reason they stopped selling Supras in America is because they only sold about 900 of them in the ENTIRE NATION in 1998. Some Americans just don't appreciate the best sports car in the world, and that's why we lost it! :(

But TOYOTA has made a hybrid which will come out in 2008 under their high end make, LEXUS.

The car had a reputation for being too heavy for the engine power. It was like driving a powerful engine, luxury car.. with a refrigerator in the back seat.
Plus... they never really had a good convertible, or "T-top" version. They were too expensive compared to the competition.
The last year for the Supra was 1999.
