Usually they will mellow out (calm down) I had a dog that we had neutered. He was still very playful. You should really see no difference in his attitude. It just eliminates the testosterone levels which is what causes aggressive attitudes. The same can be said for human males. The more testosterone the more aggressiveness

After he recovers from the surgery there will be virtually no effective change to his behavior. The neutering is to keep your dog from running off, chasing after a female in heat which he can smell, in the right wind, from several miles away. Many people have lost their dogs because the dog wandered off to meet a lady friend.
Your dog will still play, romp and race you. He just won't be going on any long trips soon because he simply won't have the urge.

Except for no more hormonal driven behaviors you won't notice any changes from neutering.

As mentioned before; he will be calmer. He also will be less apt to try to get out of your yard/home to look for a female dog. Most importantly what you will see is fewer unwanted puppies at the shelter. Hurray for your decision!

your dog will be very glummy for a few days but will still be the same lovable humerus dog that he was before. it will take care of behavior problems and he will be less hyper. best of luck =]
