I would say about age 5 to 6, but for short periods of time. Most kids start become more modest about their bodies about this age and want their privacy. I would run my daughters bath and allow her to get in by herself. I would almost close the door and check on her every five minutes or so. I stayed within earshot of her just in case.

I say you make the call. I have four kids three girls and one boy and the oldest is 7. The boy is 6 and he has been taken his baths unattended since he was 3 but I would stay real close by and it wouldn't be for a long time. And know the 7 yr old takes baths with the two smaller girls who are 2 and 3. You just have to make that call on how your child acts some you cant leave unattended at all!

why would you want to leave a child unattended in the bath? Its a special time for kids, a time to play and chat and be silly. i normally get more out of my daughter when she is in the bath, telling me about her day and so on....although she is nearly 4 yrs I would never leave a child under 6 alone...make sure you have all you need so you dont need to dash out.
have a mobile with you and if you dont have one then any calls that happen while you are bathing your child WILL and SHOULD wait - if its urgent they'll soon call back....every child deserves some time when mum or dad isnt running here or there and doing a number of other jobs at once...and that is very rare!!!

Totally depends on the child. My son is 3.5 and I run the bath and then I'm in and out while he's playing. We live in a small apartment so I can hear him well. If it gets too quiet I check on him. Then I wash his hair and get him out.
I'd say at least age 7 before he can do the whole thing completely by himself.

i have a very independant 6 yr. old girl and i have been allowing her to bathe by herself for about a yr. i supervize her washing her body and hair, but otherwise let her play in there by herself. i am always one room away and can hear her, but do not watch her the whole time. it all depends on your child, i never would of let my child alone before 5,but some people may. drowning is quick and silent so use your own judgement.

my kids are 5 and 4 and 3 what I do is run a short (like 2 inches) bath for them and I stay in my room with the door open and check A LOT. Never really leave them alone. I still have to wash hair.
Good Luck and God Bless

Well, it is never good to leave a child five or younger, but even older children have tripped in the tub and drowned. I am not sure the age by law though.
I would at least waite till your child is six. My son is seven but he is Autistic. I check on him frenquently and I make him leave the door open.
Some children feel very independant though and that makes it harder, those are the ones that you will have to insist that the door stay open.
Hope that I answered your question.

lol where are all these people coming up with 13?..many girls these days reach puberty at 8-9 years old i know as a female i didnt want my parents bathing me after i started having a period thats ridiculous. my 6 and 5 year olds take baths unattended. my 4 year old i still have to go in with only because she is terrified of the shower and she cant get all the soap out of her hair without help. i wouldnt suggest putting a kid under probably 8 or so in the tub and going out to do yard work or something......but if you are in the next room doing something or whatever they are fine after 4 or 5 as long as you can hear them.......and believe me if your kids are like mine you will definitely hear them lol

I think your child should be AT LEAST seven before you leave him/her alone in the bath. And never give them a bath if they are tired!!!! You should also call for them every couple of minutes, or sooner, if you are not in the bathroom with them.

I started leaving mine alone to play at the age of 4. I am a room away and can hear every word he whispers. If I had a 2 story house I don't think I would feel comfortable going up or down the stairs away from where my child was.
It is a personal decision that you have to evaluate a lot of different aspects (Home size, Maturity, your reaction time for an emergency moment etc.)
