My boyfriend and I are on a very rocky road right now. Three weeks ago I confessed and told him about something I had been lying about so things aren't very nice. He's been treating me like total crap lately and it really hurts but I'm willing to put up with it I guess. I'm just so confused is all, one day we're taking a step forward and it seems like things are going to get better, the the next day he's back to being rude and taking many steps back. So what am I supposed to do? Do I break up with him because he's rude and it seems like there is no chance or do I stick with it and see what happens?
Also, how long does it usually take for a guy to forgive his girlfriend for lying?

once the trust is gone, there is usually no reconciliation. How will he trust u in the future. Why did u lie in the first place? He's your bf, u shouldn't be lying to him... that's not very nice. Take Care, and don't lie to your next BF. The truth is, this relationship won't get better

Well it all depends on what you lied about. If it was about having sex with or wanting another guy, that is going to hurt his ego. In such a case you need to give him time, but yet at some point you must bring up your feelings of how you think you guys have been derailed. Find out how deeply he has been hurt and be point blank about his future plans whether with or without you - do not get your hopes up if he is judgmental about your morals. If you guys do split up, for God's sake level with the next guy, telling him how awkward and ashamed you felt over this situation and that you learned your lesson the hard way.

If it's not that kind of lie, then you should probably tell us here at Yahoo more specifically what it was, as all situations are different.

You need to watch Sex and the City with Carrie & Aidan near the end of Season 6. She went through the same thing when she cheated on him and told him.

I hope you haven't cheated.... but he's still hurt. He's basically still hurt, and still "punishing" you, but if this relationship is ever going to work, he needs to forgive you. However, if he can't get over that you lied, then this relationship may not work any more. You shouldn't put up with it, and it's punishing the both of you - him having to think and remember it every time he sees you, and you getting the cold shoulder from him.

You need to sit down with him and talk it over, and say what's on your mind.

It depends on the guy, how long it takes to forgive a gf, and how bad it was... Some guys - months. Other guys, a couple of weeks.

Don't break up with him yet. He really got reasons of being rude to you. Your being a liar has a big impact to him though he had been trying to understand you, there are times when it gets back to his mind. Let time heals, prove to him that you won't lie again. He has loved you that's why your lying gave him that big impact of rudeness. If you don't mean anything to him, he won't be bothered if you're lying or not. He just somehow lost some faith in you at this time.

Once you lie to a bf, it's never the same. The trust is gone and they'll never feel really comfortable around you. I'm surprised he hasn't split with you, but I wonder what the lie was all about. No matter. Just tell him that the relationship is ended and go your own way. If he wants you back, he'll contact you.

umm you and him need a break from each other because neither one of you is happy right now and being together is causing more damage to the relationship. you hurt him so he's very upset with you, he's trying to forgive you thats why he's still with you but at the same time he can't look past whatever you lied to him about. we don't forgive very easily it takes a long time for us to forgive.. honeslty we don't forgive because it will always be on our minds. i feel what he's going through because my ex-girlfriend lied to me and i resent her for that and that is why things between me and her will NEVER be the same because i can't forgive her and i don't think i ever will.
