Are there special things that they had when they were younger that they like to eat even today?

Also: What do they think of all the different foods available today in this modern age? Do they like those things, too?

My grand father ate the food, just cooked and served( hot).
He used to bring cocunut, fruits for my grand mother and she used to keep in her pocket and chew them when ever she likes to.
May grandfathers pocket was never empty you can find mishery, cardimum etc.. in his pocket.
They were peace loving but were always keeping an eye on their grandchildren activities.
Usually visited our school to see our report or performance.

Thanks for asking about grandparents you made my day and i love to answer your questions.

My grandparents are deceased. When they were alive, they preferred traditional Indian (in our case Bengali) food and had a snigger for modern food items. However, as some of the fast foods can be quite lip smacking they relished the same too, but in the end remarked that those weren't good for health. Also, they thought that compared to cooking traditional cuisine, preparing the new fangled food was child's play. And over priced as well.

I think the older generation is happy to microwave a good meal and many women have put away rolling pens now that biscuits and pie crusts come ready made and frozen. My own parents still like things you might consider strange like pickled beets, chow chow, turnip greens, specked beans, even pickled pigs feet!! Picked eggs, too! On special occasions, our mother will make dumplings from scratch and pull out the fixings for a cake, but on the whole, I think we've all been spoiled, and happily, by all the modern advances and fast food. There are ways to have it fast and still keep it healthy.
